Course Description

This self-paced workshop provides guided sight translation practice using common legal documents frequently encountered in court and legal settings. Participants will strengthen their ability to deliver accurate, smooth, and well-paced oral renditions while preserving legal register, punctuation cues, syntax, and meaning. The course emphasizes practical techniques for handling dense legal language, numbers, names, enumerations, and complex sentence structures under real-world conditions.

Participants will work through progressively challenging legal texts while analyzing common pitfalls such as over-literal translation, register shifting, omissions, anticipatory errors, and loss of grammatical structure.
